House of Art (HOA) Gallery always keeps its guests inspired and amazed. The gallery houses a collection of awesome original artworks from various artists. HOA Gallery is not just about displaying and selling unique art pieces. They welcome everyone, from seasoned collectors to the art novice, to appreciate and learn about art. In the spirit of nurturing all forms of creativity, they also host events like the one I attended featuring Willard Hill.
Willard Hill is a New Orleans based music artist. He is not only a singer, but a rapper and artist (art). This young, poetic, Neo-soul artist blessed Brooklyn with his presence at the House Of Art Gallery. Willard’s music is an eclectic mix of Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Soul.
There was a verse from his single, “Requiem For A Queen”, that reminded me of a young Tupac Shakur. I felt like he was sitting right next to me singing “Brenda’s Got A Baby.”

Willard called his personal style a New Orleans Hip Hop/Soul, as Tupac once did leading up to his death. Willard says his music is meant to inspire and immerse his audience into his world, which it did for me. I must say I had a few tears in my eyes during a couple of the songs, especially the one about the death of Trayvon Martin.
It is always amazing to know that there are still conscious musical artist for all genres how there. His lyrics will get you thinking. To check out some spoken word from @willardhill, click on the link below:
